Restorative Justice Bible Studies

The Centre for Justice and Reconciliation intermittently develops Bible studies exploring how the concepts of restorative justice resonate with Biblical conceptions of justice and conflict resolution.

Where Love and Justice Meet
The 2007 Restorative Justice Bible study explores the concepts of 'love' and 'justice' and how they are both a part of God's character. From the perspective of the crucifixion of Jesus, it reflects on the meaning of justice and love for victims and offenders. It then examines principles and practices whereby communities can live out justice and love.

What is restorative justice?

Restorative justice is a theory of justice that emphasizes repairing the harm caused or revealed by criminal behaviour. It is best accomplished through cooperative processes that include all stakeholders.

Practices and programs reflecting restorative purposes will respond to crime by: (a) identifying and taking steps to repair harm, (b) involving all  stakeholders, and (c) transforming the traditional relationship between communities and their governments in responding to crime. more
