PF Philippines Trains Jail Officers in Restorative Justice: In late 2007, the board chairperson of PF Philippines, Dr. Rey Taniajura, conducted a three-day training class for 44 non-commissioned jail officers from across the Philippines.
Advocating for Restorative Justice in the Philippines: PF Philippines is a founding member of the Coalition for Restorative Justice formed in March 2005. This group of NGOs is seeking to integrate restorative programmes and practices throughout the Philippine Criminal Justice System.

What is restorative justice?

Restorative justice is a theory of justice that emphasizes repairing the harm caused or revealed by criminal behaviour. It is best accomplished through cooperative processes that include all stakeholders.

Practices and programs reflecting restorative purposes will respond to crime by: (a) identifying and taking steps to repair harm, (b) involving all stakeholders, and (c) transforming the traditional relationship between communities and their governments in responding to crime. more
