Promoting Restorative Justice in China

Last modified 2007-12-05 06:37

In December 2002, PF Hong Kong partnered with Nanjing University in China to host a series of events related to restorative justice.

These events included a one day seminar for law students at the university and a two day symposium for academics, prosecutors, police and prison officials, lawyers, and social workers. Dan Van Ness for PFICJR and Stan Thorburn from PF New Zealand participated in the symposium.  PF Hong Kong continues to work with Nanjing University in the promotion of restorative justice in China.

What is restorative justice?

Restorative justice is a theory of justice that emphasizes repairing the harm caused or revealed by criminal behaviour. It is best accomplished through cooperative processes that include all stakeholders.
