Making standards work: fifty years of standard-setting
Prison Fellowship International is the association of national NGOs in over 100 countries. Our affiliates organise members of Christian churches to work with prisoners, ex-prisoners and their families. They provide material, social welfare, and spiritual support in ways that are in keeping with their local cultures and context. Consequently, we have the opportunity to see firsthand the challenges faced by justice systems around the world.

What is restorative justice?

Restorative justice is a theory of justice that emphasizes repairing the harm caused or revealed by criminal behaviour. It is best accomplished through cooperative processes that include all stakeholders.

Practices and programs reflecting restorative purposes will respond to crime by: (a) identifying and taking steps to repair harm, (b) involving all  stakeholders, and (c) transforming the traditional relationship between communities and their governments in responding to crime. more
